Why Is It That
So Many People Go Through
Life Never Really Achieving Their Fullest Potential?
Good question! Let's ask it again. Why is it that so many people
go through life never really achieving their fullest potential?
They have dreams and desires like everybody else but they remain as such -
simply dreams and desires that never come to fruition.
They see others achieving theirs and they say something like, "Oh well, luck was on their side, I was
never so fortunate" or "They got all the lucky breaks," or "They had the time and the money
to spend, I never did," etc.
Yet, if you were to suggest to many of these same people that perhaps they were governed by
superstition, instead of reality, they would become highly offended with you. The reality
is, there really is no such thing as luck. It is a
superstition. There is such a thing as opportunity plus timing, but not luck.
So, back to the question at the start of this article; why is it? Well, it has to do with our
thinking. Henry Ford once said something like, "If you think you can or if you think you can't,
you are right." Lack of belief and desire has a lot to do with it, as does fear of
failure but, it all starts with our thinking.
Another wise man once said, "Two men look out from behind the same bars; one sees the mud and the other sees
the stars." Mr Ford would agree. In their own thinking these two men were both
right.
I attended a local art exhibition a few weeks ago and I heard a middle-aged lady say to a
landscape artist of similar age, "You must consider yourself extremely lucky to able to paint such beautiful
scenery. I always wanted to be able to do that." His response was, "No madam, not lucky at all. It has
taken me nearly fifteen years of hard work and even a little "bad luck", (adversities) to
get to where I am today." Her response was then to suggest he was fortunate (lucky) to find the time to
keep at it.
That man did not find the time to keep at it, he made the time. His minutes, hours,
days, weeks, months and years were no longer than hers, he just used them to his advantage while
she failed to use them to hers. He started well and he means to finish well - which also means, that
our dreams and desires are not worth a
thing to us, unless some action is taken and we keep on taking it.
That dear lady will probably never fulfill her dream to become an artist - not because she lacks the ability, but rather, she lacks right
thinking. She thinks that if luck were to come her way then things would be different. She is
not on her own with that kind of thinking however, an army of sympathizers could be mustered to her
side with the exact same outlook.
So let's talk a little more about painting. Many people aspire to learn how to paint and it is
not faulty, superstitious thinking that is stopping them, it is real thinking - honest
thinking.
For example: they are simply not sure where to begin first and have limited
opportunities for sound advice. Some people are unable to spend too much time away from home.
Others don't have the money they need for transport, tuition fees, painting materials and on-going supplies. Again,
there are other people who would prefer one-on-one tuition rather than learning with a group.
It is important such obstacles are overcome otherwise creative channels can become corroded. But the
good news is, thanks to a Company called Legacy Learning Systems, these obstacles have been overcome.
These people have professionally developed a 20 DVD course called Learn &
Master Painting. It is the best home instruction course available to learn how to
paint with oils and acrylics. The teacher is a master artist who provides a solid, comprehensive
foundation for all her students.
See the world through the eyes of an artist - your eyes.
